There are a handful of thoroughbred racehorses out there, that not only perform beyond expectations on the race track, but go on to sire magnificent racing champions. One of these spectacular stallions goes by the name of Golden Snake. His pedigree alone speaks volumes, but his own performance and that of his offspring, has propelled him into being one of the top stallions in stud, presently in the world.

Golden Snake was sired by Danzig, a stallion who became known for his immense speed and sired other big names in racing, such as Chief’s Crown, Maroof, Danehill and Belong to Me. Dubian, Golden Snakes’ dam, on the other hand, is a Group 1 champion and an extremely successful broodmare, with one of her daughters, Sayyedati, winning five Group 1 races. Her stamina secured her achievements on the track, and the combination of her strengths and Danzig’s speed, led to Golden Snake.

With near perfect confirmation, a faultless pedigree and virtually limitless strength, stamina, speed and toughness, Golden Snake took the racing industry by storm when he walked away victorious from five Group 1 stakes races, from the age two to five. His first Group 1 win was achieved at the age of two, after which he just continued to better himself and deliver staggering performances. Almost overnight, trainers and owners are looking to buy horses sired by Golden Snake, making his sons and daughters highly sought after racehorses.

If his latest achievement is anything to go by, many more of his offspring will be seen heading towards the winners circle. On Wednesday, Golden Papillon used his inherited strength and speed to claim his victory at Moonee Valley. The beautiful chestnut has shown his worth on the race track by being consistent in his performances and always throwing his heart into every racing event. Trainer Chris Hyland commented that there is a Golden Snake trait that can be found in every horse he sires, and a trait that can be clearly seen in Golden Papillion - the desire to race, to run and to win.

It seems that Golden Snake is a horse that just cannot do anything wrong, both on and off the track. During his racing career he was a champion, as a stud stallion, he is creating them. Golden Snake is now a top sire, and is likely to remain in his leading position for quite a while. Not strange, as he is used to excelling in everything he does.

Golden Snake Newsflash

Local galloper Hissing Sid has scored back to back wins in the Warrnambool Cup courtesy of a top ride by Ben Melham.

Settling well back early, Melham edged closer on the inside approaching the turn and as all the others scouted wide, Melham scraped the point and railed through to lead.

Having then released the brakes Hissing Sid ran right away to go on for an effortless win.

Early leader Cruyfforme boxed on well and held second, ahead of Light Vision in third place.
